#002 — DJ ESTRELLA
While frequenting the Copenhagen rave scene for years, DJ Estrella has developed personal preferences when it comes to club music. Mainly under the umbrella of dusty 90s UK and US tech house, DJ Estrella’s swift selections leaves the dancefloor energetic and bustling through busy percussions, longing vocals and dreamy pads. In essence, it’s speedy and extroverted house music pregnant with trance elements that playfully push the party forward.
I wanted to create the atmosphere of what I think a Pleasure Control party at 2 am should feel like. Boiling with tension and enjoyment, twisted with uncertainty of wtf is this journey you’ve just embarked on. Like, you shouldn’t feel too confident that you know where we’re going from here. I’m pretty sure I found the right combination of tracks to unlock that feeling
I’ve always been into 90s tech house and progressive house and trance (the similarities would surprise you). But don’t get me wrong, I like piano house just as much as the next dancer. As for my record bags goes, they’re sorted in moods and intensities. I like to slow transitions, progressing like a narrative composition, using several tracks to build into another sonic universe. Some like fast transitions, jumping from one genre to another – that’s not me, I like the whole trip.
I had my DJ debut in 2021, so obviously I’m far from done digging records and making feet move out there. Another important promise I made myself is to find more time to produce music. I’ve been making and playing music since my early teens, and in 2022 I released some club tracks that I’m super proud of. I love getting lost for hours in my synths… so see you down the rabbit hole <3
