#011 — STEREO THE KID
Heavily influenced by his roots in the UK, and with a massive love for amen breaks and a bouncy basslines, STEREO THE KID is making a name for himself in the Copenhagen scene as a DJ with a unique style and flavour. Touching everything from trance to jungle, from baile to bassline, STEREO THE KID is bound to make you pull out your gun fingers and shake you moneymaker.
Yeah, so having grown up in the UK and experiencing the rave scene there i have always loved how different it is from the rave culture here in northern Europe. Everything from the fashion, to the attitudes, but most noticeably the music. Drum and Bass dominates the scene there, but despite its reputation in Europe, it can be really diverse and fun and the energy levels are always so high. There’s this beautiful togetherness you feel with people from all walks of life, so there’s also a beautiful tolerance of others. Our cultures are built around togetherness and lifting eachother up. So in the spirit of unity, this mix is my way of blending the two scenes together and trying to bring out the best from both.
I feel like my taste is constantly evolving, and I’m always finding new sounds and styles that I love. I’m a huge nerd when it comes to sounds, music and genres, and I'd happily spend hours and hours gigging for just the right track or sound. But mostly I’m here to have a good time and I want people to leave my sets with a smile. I think the scene can get very pretentious about the music and the “vibe” and doesn't give much space to play around. It’s far too often that we don't allow ourselves to have fun in our own way and push the boundaries. In my opinion this is the best way to grow and create positive change. I want to be able to inspire people, not to be afraid to contribute to our culture, and not to hold back on their concepts, music, and ideas.
I am starting a new personal project soon, and am super excited about it, but in the interest of surprise I'll ask you all to keep your eyes peeled and your ears close to the ground ;)
