#015 — MILO MAKUA

Emerging from the vibrant underground of Copenhagen, Milo Makua stands as a steady figure with a long and big involvement in the city's electronic music scene.

As a seasoned DJ and promoter, she has dedicated her journey to move fluidly within the spectrums of techno, house and trance, creating intense journeys in tune with the crowd.

Her sets are characterized by hypnotic, pulsating rhythms, groovy basslines, and a profound sense of progression to make the dancefloor boiling from start to finish.

The idea behind this mix was to showcase the music I’ve been collecting over time—tracks that I don’t usually play at my gigs. It’s a presentation of what I’ve been enjoying over the past year, with a strong sense of melancholy running through it.

I wanted to blend different genres and moods while keeping it unpredictable—something that keeps the listener engaged, never quite knowing what’s coming next!

I’d describe myself as a DJ with no strict boundaries - I play what excites me in the moment. While many might associate me with techno sets, I’ve always prioritized artistic freedom over sticking to a single sound. My love for music runs deep, and I never want to limit myself, even if that means keeping people on their toes.

My journey started on the dancefloor as a teenager, completely immersed in the energy of club culture. In 2016, I got my hands on a CDJ-800 thanks to my partner who taught me the basics, with his huge collection of psytrance CD's.

From there, I dove into everything from trance to ambient, techno, and house.

There are a lot of exciting things coming up! My new collective, Postyr, is hosting our first event this winter, kicking off a series of parties with a strict focus on techno. I also have my first gig in Berlin and will be playing at Distortion Ø, which I’m really looking forward to.

On top of that, I have some exciting B2B sets lined up that I can’t wait to dive into. Looking ahead, I’m also focusing on finding a more sustainable balance in my DJ life - it’s been a wild few years, and I want to make sure I can keep doing this for many more to come.
